DramaGods

What is this?

This is the prototype page for artists we here at Savvant Music think everyone should know about. These are bands that are outstanding performers, who write their own incredible music and who could, someday, change the face of modern music.

What should I expect?

Positive reviews of great bands. If you want to read a pithy, witty, scathing review of some poor artists' best effort, try The Rolling Stone. If you want to know about little known great bands and why we like them... this is the place.

What genres?

Well, we're starting out with a rock and roll focus, but we will quickly expand to cover what ever genres lie at the intersection of what you request and what we enjoy. This might come to include jazz, funk, country among other genres.

Who picks these great bands?

I do. I'm Anny Randel, one of the founders and the President of Savvant Music, which is a small corporation operating out of Northern Colorado. We have a staff of hand picked reviewers who find bands we consider for the Savvant Music Family. I make the final decision on all artists included in this family and recommended on this site.

What makes you the expert?

Nothing. Nothing except a passion for music, an sense for what makes music "real" and unique, and an overwhelming desire to change the world, by bring exposure and opportunity to great artists and great artists to people who care about music.

DramaGods

What I love about this band is their raw musical power and emotion. Front man Nuno Bettencourt goes from sweet and melodic to heart rending pain in a nanosecond, and his compelling presence just sucks you in, but it's more than that...

DramaGodsKevin Figuerido on drums is a wild man. He injects so much power and energy into each measure it makes you sweat along with his flaming head of curly hair.

But it's not only Kevin's rocking groove and Nuno's emotive vocals. It's more...

Joe Pesci on bass is a quiet, kind of shy young guy with a rocker page boy haircut. He only smiles when Nuno catches his eye and gives him that "thumbs up dude" look. But when he smiles, little chick hearts melt all over the floor, but that's not all... This guy holds down a rock solid groove on the baseline, making this one tight mother of a band. He drives, he's solid and he's hot!

And that leaves Steve Ferlazzo on the keyboards. Long curly hair flying, he really rocks on the keys. Steve's backing vocals blend and build with Nuno's, and the collaboration and counterpoint of Steve's keys and Nuno's ripping guitar is incredible. And he puts on a hell of a show rocking out on two keyboards at once.

And, speaking of Nuno on guitar... Holy Shit! That man can fly on the fret board, his black-painted fingernails a blur as your ear tries to keep pace with his blistering licks. If you don't know about Nuno, then you are missing out on one of the Guitar Gods.

But, you guessed it... that's not all!

This group puts out some really incredible songwriting. And songs that are unique, diverse and relevant. So many bands today put out the same song over and over again. Different lyrics and maybe a different melody, and sometimes a differing arrangement, but you can't tell one song from the next.

You won't find "sameness" from DramaGods! In fact, typical industry A&R guys might overlook this band because their music is so diverse! But their songs are all over the place in a GOOD way. From "Sick Punk", which sounds like you'd expect, to the angry "Exit", to the funny "Tragedy" (really, it's sweet) to soft, sad "Flow" or "Ordinary Day" to one of their latest rockers "Megaton".

Another factor that drives these guys into the tragically hip category is the fact that Nuno, of course, is already a rock star -- he was the lead incredibly hot ripping lead guitar for the band Extreme. One of my friends in the main stream music industry informed me that Nuno was a "has been." I was ROTFL!!! Cause somebody forgot to tell Nuno. This guy hasn't heard DramaGods or he'd have so known better! Nuno left the 80s in the dust. It's hard to find the pretty-boy-insane-rock-star image of him ala the 80s, but you recognize his exceptional songwriting craft (he wrote the hit song "More than Words"). Nuno's back rocking harder and better than ever,

DramaGods, however. write as a team, and they write amazing stuff.. They write hit, creative, emotive, hot and passionate music. Their songs run a gamut from seriously heavy rock and roll to totally sweet songs that'll make your girlfriend snuggle up and get really friendly...

If you're searching for this group online, you might find some of their work under their former name, Population 1.
